For over three decades, YRG MERF has walked alongside communities fighting for dignity, hope, and a future free from fear. This World AIDS Day, we stand with the young women, families, and individuals across India who refuse to let disruption define their story.
Behind every statistic is a person. A young girl whose education was interrupted. A mother navigating healthcare while facing stigma. A young man seeking answers but afraid to ask.
For 30+ years, YRG MERF has been there, at the intersection of science and humanity, where policy meets real lives, where hope is rebuilt one conversation at a time.
World AIDS Day 2025 carries the theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.” It’s not just words. It’s the story of millions of Indians facing economic instability, health system pressures, and persistent stigma, yet still showing up, still fighting, still believing in a better tomorrow.
Progress is fragile. But so is the human spirit, fragile, yet unbreakable when we stand together.
When schools close and opportunities shrink, young women carry the heaviest burden. Yet their dreams don’t pause for disruption.
Through our Suniti Scholars Program and adolescent health initiatives, we’re walking with girls across Northeast India and beyond, providing education, mental health support, and informed health choices. Because every girl deserves a future she designs, not one forced upon her.
Imagine needing help but being too afraid to seek it. Too ashamed to speak up. Too worried about judgment.
Our counsellors and community health workers create safe spaces, confidential, compassionate, and free from judgment. We rebuild trust one conversation at a time, ensuring people stay connected to life-saving care and live without shame.
HIV doesn’t exist alone in someone’s life, neither should their healthcare.
We integrate mental health support, women’s health services, care for non-communicable diseases, and digital follow-ups. Because healing isn’t just about medicine - it’s about seeing the whole person and honoring their journey.
Every study we conduct, every data point we analyze, represents real people with real needs. Our research uncovers what’s working, exposes what’s failing, and shapes policies that truly serve India’s diverse communities, ensuring no one is invisible in the response.

India’s HIV response isn’t built in boardrooms, it’s built in the quiet courage of individuals seeking care, in the dedication of health workers showing up every day, and in the generosity of people like you who believe everyone deserves dignity.
