On World AIDS Day, the YR Gaitonde Medical, Educational and Research Foundation (YRG MERF), through YRGCARE, awarded scholarships to its first cohort of 86 Suniti Scholars.
Honouring the legacy of founder Dr Suniti Solomon, this program supports young women under 25 from Northeast India affected by HIV-related challenges. The scholarships facilitate higher education, fostering independence and reducing stigma. “Disbursing these awards on World AIDS Day symbolises our unwavering commitment to empowerment and equity,” said a YRG MERF spokesperson. “These scholars are beacons of resilience, inspiring a stigma-free future.”
The Suniti Scholars Program establishes a scalable model for inclusive education nationwide.
